Gorgeous handcrafted quilt signed by nine American astronauts on cotton fabric, including Neil Armstrong (Gemini 8 & Apollo 11), Dave Scott (Gemini 8 & Apollo 15), Jim McDivitt (Gemini 4 & Apollo 9), John Glenn (Mercury-Atlas 6), James Lovell (Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8, & Apollo 13), Tom Stafford (Gemini 6A, Gemini 9A, & Apollo 10), Charles Conrad (Gemini 5, Gemini 11, & Apollo 12), Ron Evans (Apollo 17), and Deke Slayton. GORGEOUS HANDCRAFTED QUILT SIGNED ON COTTON FABRIC BY NEIL ARMSTRONG, DAVE SCOTT, JIM MCDIVITT, JOHN GLENN, JAMES LOVELL, TOM STAFFORD, CHARLES CONRAD, RON EVANS, AND DEKE SLAYTON In addition, there are twenty autopen and secretarial signatures from William Anders, Wally Schirra, Buzz Aldrin, Don Eisele, Walt Cunningham, Jack Swigert, Alan Shepard, Gene Cernan, Charlie Duke, Ken Mattingly, Ed Mitchell, Rusty Schweickart, Michael Collins, John Young, Al Worden, Jim Irwin, Fred Haise, Joe Kerwin, Richard Gordon, and Gordon Cooper. Measures 82 by 74 inches, created in 1976, in very fine condition with only minor staining and a very small hole below the third role near the right border, and accompanied with a letter of authenticity from Zarelli (Certification Number: Z006118), the world’s leading space autograph authentication company. We were unable to locate another quilt signed by astronauts available for sale at auction in the past 50 years making the present relic excessively rare and virtually nonexistent. CONTAINS AN ADDITIONAL TWENTY AUTOPEN AND SECRETARIAL SIGNATURES FROM OTHER AMERICAN ASTRONAUTS, ACCOMPANIED WITH A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM ZARELLI SPACE AUTHENTICATION Accompanied with a July 28, 1999 newspaper article from the Milford-Miami Advertiser and other documentation on how the quilt was made and its design: “Marie Fox, a resident of Miami Township for the last 50 years, showed me a quilt she made back in the 1970s that is covered in astronaut autographs. It was a painstaking process, sending letter after letter to astronauts of the time. Every day Fox said she would wait for the mail, hoping for a return autograph on the slip of cloth she enclosed in each envelope. She was rewarded with signatures of men who braved the unknown, like John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Wally Schirra, Buzz Aldrin and Alan Shepard. Altogether there are 29 autographs penned onto brightly quilted squares, bordered in a deep blue material speckled with stars. Like the dark cover of space, it was the color she believed it should be in her heart.”
